First Fair Isle

Hi, my dear readers ♥

Knitting trend of this winter are definitely sweaters with fair isle yoke, inspired by Icelandic Lopapeysa and I love all these new patterns and projects from knitters I follow on social media ! Of course I would like to make one myself as well... the problem is that I never really tried fair isle before, so I decided to start on something simple !

Some of you maybe remember this hat I made a while ago from super-warm Icelandic Ístex yarn. It was cute winter accessory for my head full of dreadlocks, but now - with short hair - it's (was) too big for me. So I decided to frog this whole project and use the yarn again !

I picked a simple free hat pattern on Ravelry (Barley from TinCanKnits) and classical fair isle pattern from Pinterest. It was super-quick and fun, but now that I come back to it again I see all my mistakes and the reason why the fair isle sweater (which I started right after this hat was finished) couldn't work :D Even if it's not that visible I was holding yarn too tight and it ended up smaller that it should be. Which is fine with hat, but not OK with sweater... well...let's talk about my fair isle sweater experiments when I finally finish one, so I can learn from my mistakes and maybe give you some tips and tricks ...

Anyway, this hat ended up being really cute and warm and I'm happy about the whole recycling process :)

I hope you're all doing fine ♥

Have a beautiful day, everyone !

Christmas 2017

Hi, my dear readers ♥

A month after (that's not so bad, huh? I'm actually catching up with posts!) I'm here with Christmas-themed post ! I'm sorry to bringing it back, I know most of you are probably happy that the holiday season is over, but I promise there will be no family photos and detailed review of all gifts I got :D

First I want to start with traditional Christmas lolita meet-up - because that's important part of my holiday season ever since I started with lolita fashion :) This year, same as the last one - we travelled to Nürnberg, but this time luxuriously with car because Vanilla was going as well (thank youu ♥) ♪

This year the meet-up was happening in new place - super-cute café with cupcakes and pink&white striped wallpapers, but unfortunatelly no real food (and no wine D:), so we had to be in Nürberg much sooner and get lunch. We went to Low-Carb restaurant Soulfood Lowcarberia picked by Vanilla - as the name suggests everything there is low-carb, but also gluten free and there was tiny grocery store and bakery...and it was delicious ♥ ♥ ♥ Damn, I ate so much that day ! I even got a desert and two drinks and as the main course I had this "try-everything-plate" ha ha :D I could - because I knew that I won't eat anything at the café since there were only sandwiches and cupcakes and no gluten free options :) no problem ! I even got two cheese muffins as take-away and ate them later at the cupcake café ho ho !

The meet-up itself was cute, we met with everyone after such a long time and took some photos in the nice interior. What was not so cute was the fact that even though we had reservation for the whole room, muggles started to go there and take places at free tables and the staff didn't say anything. So they stayed, starred and even took some sneaky photos of us *rolls eyes* ...which all became even more awkward when we started playing games and because of the muggle audience half of the guests didn't want to participate... well, I don't blame them, because we really looked like some age-play party to strangers who didn't know anything about lolita fashion ...

...oh and the dresscode was "sweet and winter" ...ehm uhm ... pretty hard for me to put something together and I was a bit sad about this choice of styles, because I really wanted to wear my new (gothic lolita) skirt from Vienna... instead I had to improvise with my ouji wardrobe and ended up having... yeah - OK outfit - but I would rather dress up in something more fancy for event like this :/

bow - from Bodyline skirt

The second part of this holiday-themed post is my outfit from the Chistmas Eve. We spent the first three Christmas day in Munich and then we went to Prague until January 2nd. On Christmas Eve Honza cooked delicious fish we bought in Spanish grocery store and I made a few schnitzels for dinner. We exchanged gifts and that took us so long that we didn't even had time to watch Home Alone as we usually do :D On 25th we decided to do something different than usual and went to cinema to watch new Star Wars... ugh that was a mistake ! Not only the movie was crap, but also apparently the whole Munich had this idea, so the cinema was full of kids D: We also went to vegan restaurant to have something lighter, but it was terribly expensive and the food was more like what-I-found-in-fridge than anything else... ugh - really a day full of bad decisions :D ha ha

 Christmas elfie :D

Satan got a new bed and plush spider ♥

I got Matcha set and plush onesie :D

ethically & ecologically produced headphones from House of Marley ♥ ♥ ♥

I don't have any photos from the Prague-part of our Christmas, but it was mostly about meeting with friends, family and on New Year's Eve we were playing Dungeons&Dragons until morning :D (then we went to sleep, visited grandma and played again)

I hope you all had a good start in 2018 and I wish you (very late) all the best in the upcoming year !

Museum Fünf Kontinente

Hi, my dear readers ♥

Winter is season of museum outing and gallery visits, which is (appart from snow and Christmas) probably the only good thing about this grey, ugly and cold part of the year.

In November we decided to visit something new and went to Museum of Five Continents in Munich, which is... well, instead of trying to re-tell the "about" from their website, I'm going to copy and paste part of it here for you to get the idea: "The Museum Fünf Kontinente, formerly known as the Staatliches Museum für Völkerkunde, was founded in 1862 as the first ethnological museum in Germany. The collection of artefacts of everyday life, ritual objects and works of art which are preserved and continually expanded here reflect humanity’s cultural diversity. They build bridges from the past to the present day and open doors to other ways of life and viewpoints. The Museum offers access to the cultural riches of the earth’s peoples in a way which is unique with Munich’s broad range of museums."

The musem's collection was quite amazing and really inspiring ! I loved the huge Budha statue from Japan and all kinds of patterns, jewellery and garment prints ♥

Here is a few photos I took for later as reference, or simply because I liked what I saw :)

My outfit was really simple, but I've been enjoying this casual style quite a lot lately ♪ Also I apparently can't get enough of (semi-)formal pants and I'm starting to own a little collection of them :D

Hirka's Sweater + meeting Siri Pettersen

Hi, my dear readers ♥

Even though I don't have as much time as I want to for reading, I still love books... especially fantasy (but you know that already, right?) and if, by a chance, there happens to be some distinctive knit in fantasy book, I just NEED IT !
This happed with Harry Potter, The night circus (rêveur's shawl is in planning) and also with my new favourite books Raven Rings trilogy from Norwegian author Siri Pettersen - where the main character Hirka is wearing comfy, big, hand-knitted sweater and I wanted to knit it ever since I read it last year :D

I looked through Ravelry patterns, found this beautiful River Braid Sweater from Norwegian (!) designer Katrine Hammer and ordered yarn immediately........ but then (I think) spring came and I didn't get around to knit it... UNTIL - I found out that Siri Pettersen is going to be in Prague, signing books, meeting fans and everything... so I just HAD TO KNIT IT ASAP - which was literally 17 days before the book signing D: But I did it !!! And Siri loved it ♥ ♥ ♥ *fangirl*

I went a  bit over-the-top with photos and what started with "I'll just put on this red wig to look like Hirka" ended up in full closet cosplay :D It was way too many things to wear for the actual book signing, but at least I took a few photos at home ♪

I made the sweater from Drops Air, which is very soft and incredibly light yarn, perfect for chunky knits ♥ (and it's for a really good price)

I also made a few photos at the book signing at Neo Luxor, where I met with Elyonka, Maia and Eris (we all met for the first time IRL) and we talked the whole time while waiting in the line and then overwhelmed Siri with books, fanarts, hugs and questions :D (she liked it a lot btw. ha ha)

What a day ! I usually read books from authors who are either from US or they are already dead, which makes chances of meeting them very low. So this was really great feeling to personally meet author of something I admire and tell her how much I like the books and characters ♥o♥
(maybe I should start reading more new books from European authors...? :D Any recommendations?)

Oh, and here's my gift for Siri - picture of Rime (my crush from Raven Rings books), which I did for this year's Inktober and she liked it on my Instagram ♪

I hope you're all doing fine ♪

Flying Tiger & New Hairstyle

Hi, my dear readers ♥

Two outfits in one post today ! (because I want to catch up, obviously) They are each quite different and like wearing both ♪

The first one is from the week right after HalloWien. We went to Flying Tiger with Rommily, because we haven't been there yet and Rommily was looking for some Halloween deco for upcoming birthday party :) I think she ended up with not buying anything, while I had a bag full of Christmas gifts and absolute necessities like small trash can for my sewing table or ballpoint pen made of real feather ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And of course I  HAD TO wear my new skirt. Without petticoat or any lolita accessories, just casual outfit :) I'm quite happy about how it looks, but at the same time I can't wait to wear it with some full-gothic-lolita coord *o*

necklace - win from raffle at HalloWien
raven enamel pin - Katastrofé
jacket - thrift store
skirt - Lady Sloth
bag - TEABAG
shoes - Vagabond

The second outfit is very casual, but I really wanted to take some photos with my fresh hairstyle ♪ I decided to go to hairdresser's after more than 5 years ...? To get proper haircut and most importantly new colour. I wanted white, but of course it was not available so I picked the most silver blond they had and I love it :) it's getting lighter and lighter with every hairwash and I finally look like modern woman, again ha ha :D

Funny thing is that I wanted bangs and this short bob, but a few days after I tried to comb my hair to the side (just out of curiosity) and since then I'm wearing it like that... now I'm a bit angry at myself that I didn't go for a bigger change and didn't get some side pixie cut right away... well... maybe next time :D

Also new Black Milk (velvet!) leggins to my growing collection ♥ I couldn't resist the Halloween collection again ...

sweater - knitted by me
leggins - Black Milk
shoes - New Rock
